Job Description: The International Trade Compliance Specialist II is responsible for independently managing assigned trade compliance programs, processes, and workstreams in support of the company's global import and export compliance programs. This role serves as a subject matter resource to business stakeholders, performing complex trade compliance analysis, evaluating regulatory requirements, identifying compliance risks, and providing practical, risk-based recommendations to support business objectives. The International Trade Compliance Specialist II partners closely with Supply Chain, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Finance, Legal, customs brokers, and government agencies to drive compliant trade operations, strengthen internal controls, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The role is expected to exercise independent judgment, lead compliance projects, support audits and assessments, and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members, as appropriate. The Trade Compliance Specialist II may support import and export activities across North America and other international markets and may focus on specific areas of responsibility, including U.S.-Mexico trade operations, global import compliance, customs operations, duty optimization, and regulatory compliance initiatives. Responsibilities: Independently manage assigned trade compliance workstreams and compliance initiatives. Conduct complex analyses involving tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin, trade agreement qualification, and other regulatory requirements. Evaluate compliance risks and provide recommendations to support informed business decisions. Review and approve trade compliance data, documentation, and customs processes within assigned areas of responsibility. Lead post-entry activities, including corrections, reconciliations, protests, refunds, disclosures, and duty optimization opportunities. Serve as a key point of contact for customs brokers, government agencies, and business stakeholders on complex trade compliance matters. Monitor regulatory developments and assess operational impacts, providing recommendations and implementation guidance. Advise Supply Chain, Procurement, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Finance, and Legal teams on trade compliance requirements affecting sourcing strategies, product changes, and business initiatives. Support and coordinate internal audits, broker audits, and internal compliance assessments; identify compliance gaps, develop corrective action plans, and monitor remediation activities. Lead or support process improvement, system implementation, process redesign, and cross-functional initiatives designed to enhance compliance, efficiency, and data integrity. Develop, update, and maintain procedures, work instructions, compliance documentation, and training materials, while providing training and guidance to team members as appropriate. Analyze trade data, metrics, and trends to identify compliance risks, operational issues, and cost-saving opportunities, and prepare findings and recommendations for management. Support tariff mitigation, trade remedy, and strategic trade compliance initiatives. Exercise independent judgment in resolving routine-to-complex trade compliance issues and escalating significant risks when necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in International Trade, International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field. 4+ years of experience in import/export operations, customs compliance, logistics, supply chain, or trade compliance. Advanced knowledge of import/export compliance requirements, customs regulations, and international trade programs. Ability to independently analyze complex trade compliance issues and develop practical, risk-based solutions. Experience working with customs brokers, freight providers, government agencies, and other external business partners. Working knowledge of duty savings programs, tariff mitigation strategies, customs valuation, and post-entry processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access; experience with ERP, trade management, or customs systems preferred. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic and evolving environment. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, when necessary. Qualifications (Preferred): Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist.
