OB/Pediatric Acute Care Nursing

The faculty member is responsible for providing classroom and clinical instruction in obstetric and pediatric acute care nursing. The position supports students in developing the knowledge, clinical judgment, and professional skills necessary to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care.

Conduct classroom and clinical teaching for nursing students. Provide instruction in obstetric and pediatric acute care nursing concepts and practices. Counsel and mentor students according to their individual learning needs. Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students. Develop and ensure course objectives and content are aligned with the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Nursing. Evaluate courses to determine whether established goals and objectives are being achieved. Evaluate students' clinical learning experiences and clinical facilities. Make recommendations to the Course Coordinator and Assistant Director of Nursing regarding clinical experiences and facilities. Monitor student performance and provide appropriate feedback and guidance. Recognize students' academic or clinical difficulties and communicate concerns to the appropriate Course Coordinator. Maintain accurate records related to instruction, student evaluation, and clinical experiences. Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum activities, and other faculty responsibilities. Collaborate with other faculty and healthcare professionals to provide effective clinical education. Promote professional nursing standards, patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence-based care.

Master of Science Degree in Nursing is required. An earned doctoral degree in Nursing or related field is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Adult Health/Community Health specialty area is required. Recent clinical practice in secondary care settings (hospitals).
