Maintenance Worker IIPosition: Maintenance WorkerDepartment: County MaintenancePay Rate: $17.00 per hourStatus: Full-TimeGilchrist County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker. This is a hands-on position responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of County buildings, grounds, facilities, and other County-owned property.The ideal candidate will be dependable, self-motivated, and experienced in a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks. Applicants should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and willing to assist wherever needed to keep County facilities safe, clean, and properly maintained.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform general maintenance and repairs to County buildings, facilities, and groundsPerform minor plumbing repairs, including replacing faucets, repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing plumbing fixturesPerform light carpentry, including repairing doors, trim, shelving, cabinets, fencing, and other structuresPerform minor electrical-related maintenance, such as replacing light fixtures, bulbs, switches, and outlets when appropriatePerform painting, drywall patching, caulking, and other general building repairsAssist with preventative maintenance of County facilities and equipmentPerform basic grounds and exterior facility maintenance as neededInspect buildings and facilities for maintenance or safety concerns and report needed repairsSafely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and other maintenance equipmentAssist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and materialsRespond to maintenance requests from County departmentsMaintain County tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a safe and orderly conditionAssist with inmate work crews when assigned and properly certifiedFollow all County safety policies and proceduresPerform other related duties and assist other County departments as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious experience in building, facility, construction, or general maintenance workHands-on experience in areas such as plumbing, light carpentry, painting, basic electrical maintenance, grounds maintenance, or general repairsAbility to safely operate common hand and power toolsAbility to understand and follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to work independently and prioritize assigned tasksAbility to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsMust possess a valid Florida driver's licenseMust be willing and able to obtain required Florida Department of Corrections certification for inmate supervision, if assignedExperience in multiple areas of building or facility maintenance is preferred.Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, with occasional after-hours, weekend, or on-call work as needed.Gilchrist County Full-Time BenefitsEmployee-only Florida Blue health insurance planVacation and sick leave12 paid holidays (8 hours each)$25,000 County-paid life insuranceFlorida Retirement System (FRS), as applicableApplication InformationThank you for your interest in employment with Gilchrist County.
