Job Description

The competent Nurse, in a clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. This position involves providing routine and complex care while developing the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. The nurse will make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation effectively.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments according to appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN license in the state of Texas or compact.
