Position Senior Maintenance Technician – The Senior Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. The role shares knowledge of production equipment with the maintenance team and operators and acts as a subject matter expert on at least one of the following equipment areas: injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and/or stretch wrappers. Essential Functions Adhere to and enforce the highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices plant‑wide. Train and lead Operators, Mechanics, and Supervisors on technical procedures related to high‑speed bottle manufacturing and packaging. Develop and execute continuous‑improvement projects, upgrades, and resolution of re‑occurring problems in partnership with plant leadership. Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize equipment downtime; conduct root‑cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Partner with other Senior Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross‑functional problems. Use available software systems to analyze and identify issues that drive throughput performance. Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like‑new status during planned downtime. Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in the following specialization areas: Blow molding (inclusive of PET processing), machine set‑up, mold changes, and quality inspection systems. Filling/capping, beverage processing methods, cap feeding systems with light closures, vision inspection systems and laser date coders, quality/sanitation standards, and conveying systems. Labeling technology (roll‑fed and/or cut‑and‑stack), machine set‑up, hot‑melt gluing systems, and conveying systems. Dry‑end packaging: case packers, case conveyors, conventional and robotic palletizers, and stretch wrappers. Injection technology: Husky injection molding machines (hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical); auxiliary systems (resin handling/blending, resin drying, dehumidification, vision inspection, conveying, cooling); mold systems including internal hot runner and cold half maintenance; and plastic processing at high speeds while maintaining tight tolerances and acceptable acetaldehyde levels. Machine set‑up required for all pack size changes. Common OEM’s for production equipment: Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, Tech. Periodic transfer of operating and troubleshooting procedures to the Niagara team. Maintain regular and predictable attendance; maintain on‑call availability to ensure equipment and facility uptime. Stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs; bring own toolbox and basic tools. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 6 years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment. 6 years of experience in a senior maintenance position. 4 years of experience managing people or projects. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments and levels of the organization. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Skilled in the use of shop equipment (hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe) and assorted power tools. Proficient with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges. Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment. 10+ years in a senior maintenance role. 6 years of experience managing people or projects. 4 years of experience in one of the following fields: blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage. 4 years of experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other packaging/bottling equipment. 1 year of experience leading and developing others on equipment functionality and repair. 2 years of experience creating process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives. Skilled in fabrication (cutting, welding: MIG, TIG, or stick). Experience with electrical systems: 480 VAC, 24 VDC power. Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams. Proficiency in repairing variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (AS‑IBus, CAN‑Bus, PROFI‑Bus, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules. Preferred: Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or related field. Certification / License Required: None.
