Youth Development Specialist

As a Youth Development Specialist , you will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive. Working in a mission-driven nonprofit organization, you will lead youth development activities, build positive relationships with youth and families, and support outcomes such as school attendance, graduation, skill development, and healthy decision-making. Work Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 2pm – 6pm) Pay Rate: $17.50 per hour Essential Job Duties Ensure the daily supervision, safety, and conduct of youth in the program. Utilize group management techniques to reduce or eliminate behavior problems. Engage in continuous improvement and remain informed about best practices in youth development and behavior. Use assigned curriculum exactly as written. Stay in physical, visual, and auditory proximity to the group, at all times. Organize and lead youth programs (such as groups, clubs, and events) in accordance with the need and availability of agency resources. Work closely with youth parents and teachers to encourage program success. Conduct outreach to increase awareness of agency programs and to connect with the families of youth participants. Prepare required documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Follow through with established customer satisfaction and program evaluation systems. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate Degree in child development, recreation or a related field; or School-Age Care (SAC) Credential and one (1) year of experience working with children under 13 years of age; or High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years’ direct experience working with children under 13 years of age. Certification in CPR/First Aid is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Familiarity with all program objectives, measurements, and outcomes; implement activities to reach outcomes. Interact with youth and staff of diverse cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to make effective public presentations. Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
