Custodian Maintenance Worker

Big Dog Ranch Rescue is now hiring! Join our mission in saving the lives of dogs at the nation’s largest cage‑free, no‑kill dog rescue. CUSTODIAN MAINTNANCE WORKER Overall duties will include removing debris, maintaining common areas, cleaning/restocking bathrooms, delivering supplies to various buildings & cleaning/sanitizing dog kennels. You will inspect various equipment and perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance as needed. You will assist the lead maintenance tech with some projects, but should be able to work independently. The Custodian/Maintenance worker will perform a variety of tasks that require little skill and can be learned quickly; other tasks require considerable experience or training. Custodian/Maintenance workers are required to work outside in all kinds of weather or in buildings without heating or air conditioning. JOB BRIEF The successful candidate will be highly organized, dedicated, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously. You will work with management and the Maintenance Supervisor to create an effective cleaning schedule, which will include your day‑to‑day routines and work timetable. Able to work a flexible schedule on “weekends” 4 Hours in the morning , from 7-11 am (1/2 Day) Saturday/Sunday with a full day off during the week. Regular Work Schedule from Monday Thru Friday from 8:00 am thru 5:00 pm. RESPONSIBILITIES Keep Buildings, Grounds, & Front Entry Spotless. Clean bathrooms, vet clinic, cafeteria, lobby and patio every morning before 10:00 AM. Remove all trash, replace trash bags, and dispose of any other debris, etc. Clean grounds adjacent to the buildings. Help Maintenance Supervisor &/or Property Manager maintain inventory & order supplies for facility maintenance. Monitor and service bathrooms throughout the day. Clean & sanitize dog kennels after transports & as needed. Monitor the property on a frequent basis and remove litter, debris, and pet droppings from the grounds. Scheduled pressure cleaning of porches. Complete minor repairs and building improvements. Interior and Exterior Painting as needed. Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions. REQUIREMENTS Standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds. Frequent handling of various sizes and weights of items. Lifting and carrying of weights exceeding 50 lbs. is often accomplished with assistance from one or more person. Frequent work outside. Frequent kneeling and bending legs at the knees to come to rest on one or both knees. Ability to use common power and hand tools such as hammers, saws, drills, shovels, hand tools, etc. Experience performing routine maintenance. Strong organizational and follow up skills. Professional presentation and attitude. Ability to maintain focus while working individually. Prepared to execute all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Compatible with a wide range of people. Needs to be thorough, reliable, responsible, honest, organized, flexible and service-oriented.
