You know fire sprinkler and suppression design inside and out, and you're ready to take charge of a design team that keeps people and buildings safe.In this role, you'll run the fire protection design department – guiding designers, tightening standards, and making sure every drawing that leaves your group is accurate, constructible, and code-compliant.You'll be the authority on NFPA standards and local codes, the go-to problem solver for complex hydraulic and layout challenges, and the voice of design in meetings with project managers, field teams, AHJs, and clients.If you've been designing fire sprinkler systems for years and are ready to own the department, we want to talk to you.What You'll Work OnYou'll oversee the full design lifecycle of fire sprinkler and suppression systems across diverse projects:Commercial fire sprinkler systemsIndustrial fire protection systemsMulti-family residential sprinkler systemsFire suppression system layouts and calculationsHydraulic calculations and system sizingDesign standards, templates, and workflowsPermitting and AHJ coordinationCross-functional coordination with project managers and field teamsYou'll work with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and fire protection design tools such as SprinkCad and HydroCAD.Your challenge: lead a high-performing design group that delivers clean, compliant, buildable fire protection designs on time.What You'll Be DoingManaging and mentoring a team of fire sprinkler designersOverseeing design of fire sprinkler and suppression systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projectsEnsuring all designs comply with NFPA standards, local codes, and project specificationsReviewing and approving design drawings, calculations, and submittals prepared by design staffCoordinating design requirements with project managers and field personnelDeveloping and maintaining departmental design standards, templates, and workflowsSupporting permitting processes and responding to AHJ inquiriesAssisting with resource allocation, project planning, and departmental budgetingLeading design reviews and driving technical problem solvingChampioning continuous improvement initiatives within the design departmentParticipating in client meetings to represent the design team and technical solutionsWhat We're Looking ForHigh school diploma required; technical training or degree preferred8+ years of fire sprinkler design experience3+ years of design team management or supervisory experienceExtensive knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hydraulics, and NFPA standardsAbility to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirementsProficiency with AutoCAD and RevitExperience with fire protection design softwareComfort with Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to perform prolonged computer work and occasionally climb a ladderNICET Level III or IV in Fire Protection Engineering preferredThe Experience That Will Really Get Our AttentionYou're the person everyone already leans on for code interpretation, complex hydraulic calculations, and tough layout calls.
