RCO/AMD Technician (3rd Shift)

Shift: 10:30 PM-7:00 AMHourly Rate: $22.97 an hour + $0.40 shift differential

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will work onsite at Conagra’s Imlay City, Michigan, facility. You will be scheduled during the midnight shift. You will be a key role to the successful first hour start up each day. The Changeover team is a critical support to troubleshoot, set up the production areas, clean inspect lube the equipment as well as understand operations to aid in "winning the day". This is a role that is eligible for certification pay after completion of on-the-job training.

SUMMARY:

Assigned to 3rd shift you will assist with the changeover, set-up, and monitoring of equipment as needed while ensuring adequate coverage to secure continuous production and compliance with plant and industry standards.

Work hours may fluctuate, but will generally be 10:30 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.

Upon completion of training for each subsequent operation – beginning with the 2nd operation learned – wage will increase by an additional $0.50/hour. NOTE: Some training completion will be required on either first or second shift. The RCO/AMD Technician will be eligible for a maximum premium of $3.00/hour for operations learned, as well as an additional $1.00/hour combined premium for AMD and Changeover certification for a total of $4/hr. certification pay.

You will become proficient in a minimum of five areas after completion of AMD/Changeover Certification:

• Process Room Attendant (Chemical Training)
• Pasteurizer
• Labeler
• Brinemaker (CCP)
• Relish Manufacturing/Sanitation
• Traypack
• Palletizer Crew Leader

RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS :

• Responsible to ensure all Safe Quality Foods (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Company and Regulatory standards are met or exceeded. Responsible for properly conducting and documenting verification and monitoring activities of the various operations.
• Ensure that all pre-operational monitoring activities, system start-up monitoring activities, in-process monitoring activities are completed in accordance with procedures.
• Ensure that all food safety, quality assurance, and GMP policies and procedures are strictly adhered to in all processes.
• Maintain required certification LOTO, forklift, manlift/harness trained.
• The achievement of operational proficiency on each operation will increase wage rate as previously indicated. Failure to achieve proficiency on at least 5th operation within one hundred eighty (180) days from date of placement – to be extended only by mutual agreement of the Company and the Union – will result in disqualification.
• In the event food safety or food quality may be compromised, the operator is responsible for communication with the appropriate team members to allow for immediate action to be taken.
• The achievement of operational proficiency on each operation will increase wage rate as previously indicated. Failure to achieve proficiency on at least 5th operation within one hundred eighty (180) days from date of placement – to be extended only by mutual agreement of the Company and the Union – will result in disqualification from the Lead Operator position and relegation to one of the bid operations that are part of the Lead Operator position for which the operator is qualified.
• Complete routine quality checks and documentation in accordance with standard work.
• Identify and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to minimize production delays.
• Work closely and collaborate with Maintenance team, Quality team, and Operations to support production demand and maintain product quality standards.
• Work safely and participate in training specific to lockout/tagout regulations and safe forklift operation and ensure actions are consistent with and support plant safety goals and procedures.
• Assist with the changeover, set-up, and monitoring of equipment as needed.
• Monitor and maintain equipment autonomously as needed, including cleaning, lubing, and inspecting.
• Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
• Completion of required documentation, record keeping and reporting.
• Work independently or with a team and collaborate with other staff to ensure production demands are met.
• Provide training, coaching and guidance.
• Complete and maintain paperwork in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision.
• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
• Available to work different shifts and overtime, including weekend overtime.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Ability to compile, analyze and report data.
• Basic math and computer skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Adapt to changing situations and be able to establish priorities.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to push/pull, climb, sit, twist and reach.

• Ability to stand the majority of shift and walk and frequently.
• Ability to graph, use a thermometer, read a graduated cylinder, and perform other similar functions.
