A day in the life

It’s 5:55 a.m. at Real Alloy’s Chicago Heights facility. You clock in, gear up, and join a quick safety huddle rooted in our SAFE culture. By 6:15 a.m., you’re inspecting conveyors and hydraulics, verifying electrical connections, and confirming that melting and casting equipment are ready. Mid-morning, you might weld a bracket, replace a pneumatic valve, and test a motor drive. After lunch, you troubleshoot a mechanical vibration on a shear, document your adjustments, and get the line back to peak performance before wrapping up at 2:00 p.m.

Shift and schedule

• Day shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
• With a scheduled shift every other fourth Saturday

What you’ll do

• Install, repair, construct, test, adjust, and service production and plant equipment
• Maintain electrical systems, mechanical assemblies, hydraulics, and facility infrastructure
• Support safe processing and melting of aluminum scrap and the transfer of molten aluminum into molds
• Operate and maintain power equipment, including forklifts and a hydraulic shear/shearing machine
• Document work performed and collaborate with a small, non-union team focused on quality and safety

Compensation and growth

• Direct hire with a starting pay of $29.98/hr with scheduled increases
• Monthly incentive opportunity: earn up to $500.00
• Retention bonuses: +3 months $250, +6 months $500, +9 months $750, +12 months $1000

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of mechanic work and strong general mechanical aptitude
• Heavy fabrication and welding experience desired
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills; pneumatics experience
• Proficiency or familiarity with Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering concepts
• Strong written and oral communication; respectful teamwork
• Ability to operate power equipment; lift up to 50 pounds
• Detail-oriented, dependable, excellent attendance
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work safely—independently or as part of a team
