Description

Our client, the U.S.'s largest commercial real estate services firm, is seeking a Building Engineer to support operations at a broadcasting facility in Mercer Island, WA . This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a maintenance professional with experience in commercial or industrial facilities who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team while providing exceptional customer service in a highly visible environment. The client places a strong emphasis on teamwork, professionalism, and maintaining a positive workplace culture. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm with opportunities for overtime.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment, including HVAC systems, generators, and fire life safety equipment
• Conduct routine inspections and operational checks to ensure facility systems are functioning properly
• Respond to maintenance requests and tenant service calls in a timely and professional manner
• Complete light plumbing repairs, painting, patching, and general building maintenance tasks
• Escort vendors and contractors throughout the facility while ensuring compliance with site procedures
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
• Support energy management initiatives by ensuring equipment is operating efficiently
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete assigned work orders
• Follow all safety procedures, environmental guidelines, and building operation standards
• Partner with team members and facility leadership to identify and resolve operational issues
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment for employees, visitors, and contractors

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in commercial or industrial building maintenance, engineering, or facilities operations
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems and equipment
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and general building maintenance practices
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, and facility-related issues
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a client-facing environment
• Basic computer and email skills
• High school diploma or GED required; trade school training or equivalent experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities including climbing ladders, walking, standing, and bending

Preferred Qualifications:

• EPA 608 Certification
• Commercial HVAC maintenance experience
• Electrical troubleshooting and repair experience
• Experience working in data center, industrial, manufacturing, broadcasting, or other mission-critical environments
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
