Job Description At St. Joseph’s Health the Surgical Services Department records more than 11,000 surgeries annually in our state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms, providing a full range of surgical services for ambulatory, elective, and critically ill patients. The Registered Nurse Surgical Admit & Recovery is responsible for delivering high‑quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe transitions between pre‑operative and post‑anesthesia care phases. What You Will Do Assess and prepare patients for surgery, including reviewing medical history and administering pre‑operative medications. Monitor patients in the Pre‑Op area, ensuring they are stable and ready for surgery. Provide immediate post‑anesthesia care, monitoring vital signs and assessing for complications. Educate patients and families on post‑operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations. Demonstrate strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills, with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient conditions. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program. BSN graduate preferred. Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license (RN) in New York. Certification: BLS/CPR. CNOR or CPAN certification a plus. Experience: Minimum of 1‑2 years’ experience in Pre‑Op, PACU, or Surgical/Perioperative Nursing. Working Hours Part time, rotating shift.
