Nurse Research Project Manager

Description The Nurse Research Project Manager plays a key role in the administration and coordination of clinical research projects, supports the day-to-day conduct of clinical research and other sponsored projects while performing nursing responsibilities in accordance with protocol requirements. This position provides direct coordination of study visits, ensures regulatory and protocol compliance, manages study documentation, and delivers patient-centered clinical care to research participants. The role assists with studies from start-up through completion under the guidance of the PI and research leadership. Responsibilities Coordinate assigned clinical studies from initiation through close-out under PI direction. Organize study start-up activities, including feasibility, regulatory submissions, and staff scheduling. Prepare, maintain, and reconcile study documentation such as source notes, case report forms, and regulatory binders. Schedule and conduct participant visits; ensure accurate data capture and protocol adherence. Monitor participant safety, perform follow-up, and report adverse events promptly. Serve as liaison between investigators, clinical staff, sponsors, and ancillary departments (pharmacy, lab, imaging). Assist in IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews. Maintain participant confidentiality and secure handling of study records. Perform clinical duties per protocol, including biospecimen collection, study-drug administration, EKGs, and other nursing procedures within scope of practice. Provide patient education and informed-consent discussions in coordination with the PI. Collaborate with care teams to integrate study participation with standard clinical treatment. Advocate for participant safety and wellbeing throughout the research process. Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required). Licenses or certifications: RN-Registered Nurse (required), BLS-Basic Life Support (required), CITI training (required). Experience: 1–2 years of clinical research; 2+ years of clinical bedside nursing; critical care experience preferred. Knowledge and skills: Ability to manage project timelines and competing priorities; familiarity with OMB Uniform Guidance and NIH grant policies; strong communication and documentation skills; detail-oriented and capable of navigating complex institutional processes; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of IRB submission platforms and regulatory databases. Physical and Environmental Demands Physical: Frequent sitting for administrative work; occasional walking and standing in clinical areas; occasional lifting of study materials and files (under 20 lbs).
