The Facility - Miami VAMC The Miami VA Healthcare System's parent facility, the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center, is located on 26 acres in the Miami Civic Center Medical Complex. The Miami VA Healthcare System is an accredited comprehensive medical provider, providing general medical, surgical, inpatient, and outpatient mental health services. The Miami VA Healthcare System includes an AIDS/HIV center, a prosthetic treatment center, a spinal cord injury rehabilitative center, and a Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC). The Miami VA Healthcare System is recognized as a Center of Excellence in Spinal Cord Injury Research, Substance Abuse Treatment, and is a recognized Chest Pain Center. The Miami VA Healthcare System operates 372 hospital beds, including a four-story community living center attached to the main facility. The Miami VA is also responsible for two major satellite Outpatient Clinics in Broward County and Key West and five Community-Based Outpatient Clinics in Homestead, Key Largo, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, and Deerfield Beach. Location: 1201 N.W. 16th St. Miami, FL 33125 Registered Nurse PC - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) Assess, coordinate, facilitate, deliver, and evaluate care for infant to geriatric patients using the nursing process. Possess strong organizational and administrative skills. Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated medical records. Maintain high level of professionalism oriented toward customer service. Outpatient primary care aid station nurse manager. Primary facilitator of clinical services and medical administrative duties. Work directly with aid station manager. Provide the following services and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth, but will not necessarily be limited to the following: Coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness. Will demonstrate proper preparation for patients for treatments and procedures. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate plans/actions and collaborate with a diverse healthcare team for the benefit of the patient, family, and organization. Effectively educate patients and families regarding involvement in the plan of care, promotion of self-care, management of symptoms, and follow-up care. Demonstrate excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity. Demonstrated ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. Demonstrated ability to obtain, assess, and report critical lab or diagnostic results to patient's physician in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to act on all medical and therapeutic orders in a timely manner. Duties related to management of front desk/reception, but not limited to: Facilitate patient intake and flow of care through the clinic, organize and maintain hard-copy medical and dental records, manage aid station medical date-base, manage clinical appointment calendar, place orders in the electronic medical records and review plans to improve efficiency, safety and accountability of medical services and materials. Duties related to management of treatment rooms immunization and lab area are, but not limited to: Assure treatment areas are clean, organized and appropriately stocked, perform routine inventory of supplies, immunization, and lab materials, perform routine equipment maintenance checks, assist with ordering of supplies and equipment, assure pharmacy room is clean and organized, maintain accountability of medications and supplies, conduct monthly inventory of narcotics, develop, and maintain medication labels. Registered Nurse PC - REQUIREMENTS Must be a graduate of a Diploma, Bachelor or Master's program of Registered Nursing. The institution will be from a National League of Nursing (NLN) approved program. Must be Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified. 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse or equivalent. Continuously employed for a minimum of one year, as a registered nurse in an outpatient clinical setting. Must have a valid, unrestricted, RN License at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States.
