The flexibility and variety offered by our department will allow the applicant to communicate and pursue interests in pediatric, adult, inpatient, and/or outpatient settings. Our professional, innovative medical center and clinics provide an environment and treatment tools that foster a speech therapist’s ability to deliver superior services and achieve optimal patient outcomes. As part of the Sanford speech therapy team, you will have multiple opportunities to advance your assessment and treatment skills with a wide variety of diagnoses and professional challenges. Our experienced team does an outstanding job of providing needed training and mentorship, and CFY support is available. In addition to working with multiple speech, physical, and occupational therapists, the connection with Sanford Health provides immediate access to and communication with Sanford physicians and specialists. Job Summary Administers speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assesses clients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitive or swallowing problems and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. Provides speech and language services; monitors disease progression and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs clients/patients/residents in practicing therapeutic exercises; provides consultation during treatment processes. Ensures all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met. May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis and disorders. Will demonstrate documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates level of treatment associated with their specialty provided to their clients/patients/residents. Follows and adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations. Exhibits flexibility with variable work schedules/assignments. Participates in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health. Will be interacting with individuals outside the department including but not limited to providers, case managers, third‑party payers, public organizations, etc. May be asked to supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services. Expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by the department leadership. Performs other related duties as requested by manager. Based on assigned area, work may focus on intervention in post‑acute, long‑term care, and home‑health environments when applicable. Qualifications Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure. Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech‑Language Pathologist. Preferred: Holds an American Speech‑Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence or is currently working on a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). May require a valid driver’s license. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
