Java Front End Developer

Position: Front-End Developer - React.js

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3-4 days onsite in Sunnyvale, CA

About the Role
Walmart is seeking a skilled Front-End Developer with strong experience in React.js, JavaScript, and REST APIs to join its technology team. The ideal candidate will have a strong UI development background and experience building scalable, responsive, and high-performance web applications.
The role will primarily focus on front-end development, with opportunities to collaborate with backend teams and integrate applications with RESTful APIs. Backend development experience, particularly with Java, is a plus but not the primary focus of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive and high-quality web applications using React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+) .
• Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable UI components.
• Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Implement state management using solutions such as Redux, Context API, or similar technologies .
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code following development best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design/architecture sessions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve UI and integration issues.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Develop applications that follow modern UI/UX and web accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with backend teams to understand APIs, data flows, and integration requirements.
• Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-6 years of professional experience in front-end development.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js .
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) , including:
  • Async/await
  • Promises
  • ES6+ features
  • Modular programming
  • DOM manipulation and event handling
• Strong experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs .
• Experience with HTML5 and CSS3 and responsive web development.
• Experience building reusable and scalable React components.
• Good understanding of React hooks, component lifecycle, and state management .
• Experience with Redux, Context API, or similar state-management libraries .
• Strong understanding of front-end development best practices and web performance optimization.
• Experience with Git and version control workflows .
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Backend Knowledge - Nice to Have

• Basic understanding of backend development and server-side technologies.
• Working knowledge of Java and familiarity with Spring Boot or similar frameworks is a plus.
• Experience working with backend teams and understanding API contracts, request/response models, and data integration.
• Exposure to Node.js is an advantage but is not mandatory.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience working with large-scale e-commerce or retail applications .
• Familiarity with GraphQL, WebSockets, or event-driven architectures .
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes .
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure .
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) .
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Exposure to performance optimization and high-traffic web applications.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
