About the Role:

The CT Technologist plays a critical role in the diagnostic imaging team by performing computed tomography (CT) scans to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This position requires the technologist to operate advanced CT imaging equipment with precision and care, ensuring high-quality images while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. The technologist collaborates closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to accurately capture images that are essential for clinical decision-making. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed patient records, adhering to regulatory standards, and continuously updating technical knowledge to keep pace with evolving imaging technologies. Ultimately, the CT Technologist contributes significantly to patient care by providing accurate diagnostic information that supports effective treatment plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program with a focus on computed tomography.
• Certification as a CT Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent credential.
• Valid state licensure to practice as a radiologic technologist in the United States.
• Demonstrated knowledge of CT imaging procedures, radiation safety, and patient care standards.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting performing CT imaging.
• Additional certifications in advanced imaging modalities or patient care.
• Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and electronic health records (EHR).
• Training in emergency response and patient monitoring during imaging procedures.
• Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and position patients appropriately for CT imaging procedures, explaining the process to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
• Operate CT scanners to capture detailed images of patients’ internal structures, adjusting equipment settings based on the specific diagnostic requirements.
• Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety and respond promptly to any adverse reactions or emergencies.
• Collaborate with radiologists to review images for quality and clarity, making necessary adjustments or retakes as needed.
• Maintain and calibrate CT equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Document patient information, imaging procedures, and observations accurately in medical records.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including radiation protection protocols, to minimize exposure risks.
• Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in CT technology and imaging techniques.

The CT Technologist utilizes technical skills daily to operate complex imaging equipment and adjust scanning parameters to capture precise diagnostic images. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients, alleviating anxiety, and ensuring cooperation during scans.
