Research Assistant

Latent Labs seeks a Research Assistant to execute and optimize laboratory assays for protein characterization at the interface of generative AI and biology. The role emphasizes mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, and high-throughput screening under the mentorship of lead scientists.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mammalian cell cultures including thawing, passaging, expansion, and cryopreservation
• Execute high-throughput screening assays in 96- and 384-well formats with appropriate controls
• Support assay development and optimization by testing conditions and troubleshooting issues
• Operate liquid handlers, plate readers, and screening equipment according to established procedures
• Document experimental results in electronic lab notebooks and communicate findings to team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field
• 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience (or master's degree with 0–2 years)
• Hands-on mammalian cell culture experience
• Proficiency with plate-based assays and high-throughput screening workflows
• Familiarity with laboratory automation equipment and electronic lab notebooks
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate experimental records
