Director, Process Safety (SHE)

AstraZeneca seeks a Director of Process Safety to lead global strategy across all operations, R&D, and commercial sites. This role shapes safety culture, sets enterprise-wide standards, and drives transformation in high-hazard environments through data-driven practices and innovation.

Responsibilities

Lead enterprise-wide risk reduction across Operations, Commercial, and R&D to eliminate hazards
Set global process safety standards, embed best practices, and improve management of change frameworks
Deploy data-driven insights and emerging technologies to strengthen process safety decision-making
Build internal and external networks to accelerate adoption of technical solutions
Drive safety culture improvements through transparent reporting, learning systems, and competency development

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or equivalent senior-level process safety experience
8+ years senior SHE leadership in global high-hazard environments
Expert knowledge of process safety, major hazards legislation, PHA, LOPA, Bowtie analysis
Competency in hazardous area classification and risk analysis techniques
Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and drive enterprise transformation
Strong leadership presence with capability to inspire and unify global teams
Willingness to travel internationally

Compensation: $175,572–$213,500 annual base pay
