Position Summary The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations of Honey Brook Hardware, ensuring accurate accounting, strong financial controls, and strategic financial insights to support business growth. This role also plays a key part in assisting with inventory management, ensuring accurate valuation, tracking, and optimization of stock levels across a diverse product offering. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Accounting Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets Coordinate with external accountants for tax preparation and audits Inventory Management (Critical Responsibility) Partner with operations and purchasing teams to maintain accurate inventory records Assist in developing and enforcing inventory control procedures Monitor inventory levels across hardware, tools, outdoor equipment, and seasonal products Reconcile inventory discrepancies and support cycle counts and physical inventory processes Analyze inventory turnover and recommend improvements to reduce shrinkage and optimize working capital Support pricing, margins, and cost analysis related to stocked products Financial Strategy & Reporting Provide actionable financial insights to ownership and leadership Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies Develop KPIs related to sales performance, margins, and inventory Support strategic planning initiatives and business expansion decisions Operational Support Collaborate with store leadership to align financial goals with day-to-day operations Support vendor relationships and purchasing decisions with financial analysis Evaluate profitability across product categories and service offerings Qualifications Education & Experience 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Experience in retail, hardware, or inventory-heavy environments strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Proven experience with inventory accounting and management systems High attention to detail and accuracy Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability Proficiency in accounting software and Excel Ability to work independently in a small business environment Preferred Attributes Experience in a family-owned or small business setting Familiarity with hardware, retail, or agricultural product environments Hands-on, team-oriented approach consistent with a community-focused business Why Join Honey Brook Hardware Work with a respected, locally rooted business committed to customer service and quality Be part of a knowledgeable, supportive team serving homeowners, DIYers, and professionals Contribute to a company with a broad product selection and strong ties to the local community #J-18808-Ljbffr
