Bioinformatician II - Allergy & Asthma Research - Genetics/Genomic Sciences

The Bunyavanich Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai invites applications for a Bioinformatician II position. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team that uses multi‑omics and systems biology to interpret large‑scale data from subjects with asthma and allergic diseases. The role involves collaborating closely with researchers and biologists to conduct genomic analyses of structural variation, epigenetics, and gene expression, and to provide bioinformatics support on projects that employ cutting‑edge genomic technologies. Responsibilities Analyze high‑throughput sequence data. Develop and implement methods to analyze these data. Maintain large datasets linked to clinical data. Communicate progress with the principal investigator regularly and contribute to the success of the research team. Develop and maintain productive collaborations within Mount Sinai and with outside researchers in academia and industry. Publish and present novel research findings in academic journals and conferences. Provide supervision of trainees and technical staff as required. Qualifications MS in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field; a PhD or advanced degree is preferred. 2+ years of post‑graduate experience in a research environment, with manipulation of large biological datasets. Advanced knowledge of genetics and/or statistical analysis software, and experience in programming environments such as R, Python, and Unix Shell Scripting. Preferred PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, genomics, or a related field. Strong track record of analyzing sequence data, with experience in clinical cohorts and microbiome analysis a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and statistical genetics, and familiarity with genomic data tools, repositories, and databases. Excellent attention to detail, solid analytical skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a record of productive collaborations. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and handle analytical complexities.
