About the Position

Job Title: PACU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: 2 years of PACU experience Ability to understand irregular rhythms Description: Department includes a 34-bed facility. Primarily focuses on Phase 1 recovery but will provide training for Phase 2 if necessary. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 2:1 in Phase 1. Common cases include robotic prostatectomy, total knee/hip surgeries, robotic hysterectomies, and bariatric procedures. CNA support is available, with 2-3 CNAs in the department. Respiratory therapy brings necessary equipment to the department. ICU patients do not recover in the PACU; they go directly to their respective units. Self-scheduling is allowed, with options for 8 or 9-hour shifts in a 72-hour pay period. Requires some call during the week and on weekends approximately every 6 weeks. Holiday call is not required. Call response time is expected to be 1 hour. Floating may occur to Post-op or Pre-op if trained. Scrubs are provided, with a respectful casual dress code for commuting. Unit-specific orientation lasts for 2-3 shifts. All clinicians must clock in and out while on the premises.
