Activity Staff

Location: Westwood Post-Acute Reports To: Activity Director Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt About the Position We are looking for a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Activities Assistant to join our Activity Department. The Activities Assistant helps create a positive and engaging environment for our residents by planning and assisting with recreational, social, physical, educational, and individual activities. The ideal candidate enjoys working with seniors, has a cheerful and patient personality, and is committed to providing meaningful resident experiences while maintaining safety and dignity. Key Responsibilities Assist in planning, organizing, and leading group and individual activities based on residents' interests, abilities, and care plans. Visit residents in their rooms and provide activities based on their individual needs. Encourage and support resident participation while adapting activities to different levels of functioning. Transport and supervise residents during scheduled activities and outings. Assist with Resident Council meetings , special events, and community activities. Assist with meal service, including delivering the correct meal tray to the correct resident. Participate in hydration programs and other resident-support activities. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident participation and activities. Maintain clean, organized, and safe activity areas. Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition, accidents, incidents, complaints, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and resident-care guidelines. Create a warm, respectful, and positive environment for residents throughout the shift. Work cooperatively with nursing staff, other departments, residents, families, and visitors. What We're Looking For At least 6 months of experience organizing and providing planned group activities preferred. Experience working with seniors, elderly residents, or in a healthcare/long-term care setting is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Compassionate, patient, cheerful, and enthusiastic personality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to remain calm and professional when working with residents, families, and visitors. Ability to make sound decisions and follow established policies and procedures. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to move throughout the facility and activity areas during the workday. Ability to assist with transporting and supervising residents. Ability to push, pull, move, or carry up to 50 pounds as required. Ability to assist during emergency situations, including resident evacuation when necessary. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or adjusted schedules as needed. Ability to work safely around infectious materials, cleaning products, and other healthcare-related environmental conditions. Why Join Us?
