Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized critical care nursing services within the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), ensuring high-quality patient care for complex cardiac patients. The RN will work in a fast-paced environment, managing critically ill patients with advanced cardiovascular needs.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patient conditions and develop individualized care plans aligned with physician orders.
• Administer medications, including titration of vesicant drugs, pressors, sedation, and paralytics, while monitoring patient responses.
• Operate and troubleshoot advanced equipment such as ventilators, telemetry systems, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and other life support devices.
• Perform invasive procedures including central line insertions, chest tube placements, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis.
• Interpret hemodynamic data, including PA catheter setup, and perform transvenous pacing and cardioversion.
• Document patient information accurately in the Cerner system and communicate patient status effectively to the care team.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license with at least 2 years of ICU experience, specifically in CVICU preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in titration of vesicant medications and familiarity with critical cardiovascular pharmacology.
• Possess skills in telemetry interpretation, vent management, trach care, and hemodynamic assessments.
• Experienced in performing invasive cardiovascular procedures and interpreting advanced hemodynamic data.
• Basic certifications in CPR; CCRN certification recommended but not required.
