SUMMARY: Under the administrative direction of the Director of Clinical Support Services, this position serves as a clinical supervisor with the main responsibility of overseeing the Clinical Support Department of the Hunting Park site. The Clinical Supervisor manages the allocated resources efficiently and cost-effectively. Delivers clinical support services and serves as a resource for the clinical support staff.
Management responsibilities:
Maintains regular communication with, and reporting to the Director of Clinical Support Services.
Attends department heads meetings and other meetings, in the absence of the Director of Clinical Support Services, or as required.
In partnership with the Director of Clinical Support Services and in coordination with other sites develops an agenda for departmental meetings and all staff training.
Attends site leadership meetings.
Provides input in clinical related issues affecting the clinic.
Supervision of clinical support personnel.
Assists in the development and attainment of departmental and operational goals for the clinical support staff, and provides direction to the attainment of such goals.
Ensures that the set fiscal priorities are met.
Handles clinically related patient’s grievances.
Handles grievances for the employees under their supervision.
Recommends changes/updates in processes to meet the demands of the organization and the needs of the patients.
Fosters a climate of collaboration, understanding, and fellowship both within the department, and as it relates to organization in general.
Accepts other duties as deemed necessary by the organization.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Participates in the hiring process, and orients newly hired clinical support staff.
Ensures that members of the clinical support team complete a thorough orientation and training, and are able to perform the assigned duties.
Reviews, revises, and signs off upon completion of the MA skills checklist.
Completes performance evaluations for the supervised staff in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Support Services, per guidelines established by the organization.
Provides regular feedback and supervisory reviews to the staff under his/her supervision in an effort to demonstrate continued growth and accomplishment of stated standards of performance.
Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Support Services in administration of disciplinary measures.
Prepares bi-weekly payroll for supervised staff, in the absence of the Director of Clinical Support Services, or as required.
Sets clear performance expectations for supervised staff and addresses gaps proactively, in partnership with the Director of Clinical Support Services and HR.
Scheduling:
MA daily schedules for Hunting Park
Take daily call outs from Hunting Park
Adjust daily MA schedule based on call outs and create lunch schedule for Hunting Park
Receives requests for time off and ensures that employee has sufficient time accrued to meet the requested time before submitting it to Director of Clinical Support Services for approval.
Completes monthly schedule (late MA, Saturday clinic, benefit time off) in collaboration with other site clinical supervisors.
Clinical/Vaccine/ Laboratory Management:
Oversees daily operations of the laboratory.
Reviews and maintains daily laboratory quality control documents.
Ensures implementation of clinical/vaccine/lab management protocols for supervised sites.
Review monthly vaccine reports for accuracy, implement corrections and provide staff training as necessary
Correct Vaccine documentation/billing errors or omissions in patient’s EMR chart for the Hunting Park and 5th Street sites. Trains clinical staff in how to prevent errors.
Purchases or supervises purchases of EHC vaccine supplies for the HP site.
Is on call 24/7 for emergency vaccine transport and relocation.
Trains and monitors staff in the performance of sterilization, disinfection, and infectious control procedures. Monitors completeness of sterilization log books.
Maintains archived documents of laboratory controls, as required.
Coordination of clinical supplies and equipment:
Orders or supervises the ordering of clinical/medical supplies for Hunting Park site.
Coordinates and schedules maintenance of clinical equipment in coordination with the Assistant Clinical Supervisor (ECG, Audiogram, etc.)
Monitors the functioning of equipment and schedules repairs, as needed.
Orders or supervises ordering of emergency supplies and equipment.
Maintains supplies and equipment as per Esperanza’s Emergency Readiness Protocol.
Supervises and monitors the delivery and distribution of clinical supplies to the hubs, and supply storage areas.
Supervises appropriate storage of emergency medication waste.
Oversees bio-waste storage and preparation for removal.
Maintains tracking spreadsheet of emergency medications purchased under 340B guidelines.
Spiritual and Wholistic Care:
Serves patients in a Christ-like manner with respect, humility, love, and self-control.
Provides spiritual intervention to patients by sharing hope and the message of salvation through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the presence of resistance; respects the patient and provides space, while continuing to provide exemplary care in all other dimensions.
Provides sound Biblical instruction and scriptural references.
Prays for and/or with patients and staff.
As led by the Holy Spirit, connects/refers patients and others to Christian churches, as appropriate.
Provides spiritual guidance and serves as spiritual mentor to the clinical support staff and to others.
Actively participates in the spiritual life of EHC and fosters the spiritual growth of all staff.

Breaches of confidentiality are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE CLINICAL SUPERVISOR:
An individual is a born-again Christian believer who is a member of a local church and is in good standing within the local church body. Individuals must be able to articulate the Gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and must be comfortable discussing the Gospel with interested patients in a gentle, respectful and professional manner.
Solid interpersonal skills, including handling of difficult people. Must communicate warmth and be able to put people at ease.
Ability to remain calm in a chaotic situation.
Ability to take initiative in communication, being clear and direct, in order to effectively communicate with other staff.
Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to handle many details and multiple priorities. Neat and organized with careful attention to details.
Must have a Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school. Four or more years of MA experience is preferred.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Good skills in basic math.
Good computer skills in Word and Excel.
A solid record of handling confidential information, as well as demonstrating trustworthiness and honesty in all transactions.
Solid character references. Also, a solid record of timeliness and reliability in a work setting.
Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict in both patient-facing and staff contexts. Experience managing emotionally sensitive situations with composure and sound judgment is required.
