Laboratory Technician – Pellitier Lab The Pellitier lab is seeking an outstanding candidate to assist in both field and laboratory operations. The applicant will generate high‑throughput fungal amplicon datasets from existing and new samples collected in the field, set up and maintain a large experimental greenhouse trial using pine seedlings, and maintain a fungal culture collection. The candidate will develop proficiency with bioinformatic and statistical methods in R, organize and order lab equipment, develop molecular protocols, contribute to lab meetings, and mentor undergraduates in the SRI program. Opportunities for publication and career development exist. A background in community, biogeochemistry, and plant or fungal biology is required. Responsibilities Laboratory Technician I – Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct assays under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow SOPs and GLPs. Maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and work areas. May be responsible for instrument calibration. Entry‑level support role; requires little to no related experience. Laboratory Technician II – Same core duties as Technician I with moderate supervision. Requires at least 1 year of related experience. Supports mid‑level service functions. Laboratory Technician III – Performs tests, experiments, and analyses with minimal supervision. Requires 3+ years of related experience. May assist less‑experienced team members. Laboratory Technician IV – Performs advanced tasks with minimal supervision. May mentor less‑experienced team members. Requires 5+ years of related experience. Highest‑level support position. Minimum Qualifications Equivalency Statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (e.g., bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
