Part Time Producer / Board Operator

Position Overview Bonneville Sacramento – KHTK / Sactown Sports hiring a Part‑Time Producer / Board Operator to operate the technical side of our broadcast operations and produce a daily sports talk show. The role is onsite, Monday‑Friday 9:30a.m. – 2:30p.m., and involves managing studio consoles, editing, and ensuring FCC compliance. What You Will Do Produce and operate the technical board for a daily sports show. Find, record, edit, mix audio on tight deadlines. Recognize, conceptualize, and develop unique angles within daily news stories. Provide topical background research and anticipate news, culture, and entertainment trends. Help frame, develop, and manage host(s) ideas and opinions to enhance on‑air product. Find and book guests and manage show contacts. Maintain a wide range of news resources and contacts. Produce, edit, upload, and distribute daily show podcasts. Contribute to show social media channels. Collaborate with other teams across brands and departments to maintain brand consistency. Set up ISDN, Comrex, Skype, etc., and manage the technical aspects of the show. Conceptualize and develop production elements to enhance show/station presentation and sound. Operate the on‑air console throughout the shift to ensure smooth airing. Maintain accurate transmitter and program logs, air commercials, emergency alerts, and satellite feeds. Ensure transmitter meets FCC parameters, all audio elements are problem‑free, and update discrepancy reports. Check studio equipment, troubleshoot and report technical problems. Become expert in audio console, Adobe Audition, NewsBoss, and Zetta. Coordinate use of music and sound, ensuring proper levels. Cross‑train and fill in for teammates as needed. Screen phone calls as required. Work with producers to create, organize, and broadcast “best‑of” content. Skills and Experience Working knowledge of sports, particularly in the Sacramento market. Ability to produce and edit audio; video editing preferred. Strong attention to detail, follow‑through, and multitasking in fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Ability to understand and execute format philosophy and collaborate with a team. Flexibility to accept direction and adapt to changes. Clear communication, both oral and written, with co‑workers. Willingness to take responsibility and work under moderate supervision. Ability to work under pressure and deliver timely material for hosts. Proficiency in sound production and audio editing (ProTools, Adobe Audition, Audacity) preferred. Highly creative use of sound, production elements, and show ideas preferred. One (1+) years of commercial broadcast experience or equivalent preferred. Experience in live play‑by‑play sports broadcasting, coordinating remote connections, or operating broadcast equipment preferred. Physical Demands Work on a computer for prolonged periods; sit and/or stand for extended periods; operate computer keys and general office equipment; extend hands and arms in any direction with good eye‑hand coordination. Compensation Hourly rate $20.60 – $22.28, varying by education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
