This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County. This position requires in-office or field work. Applicants accepted only from Department of Health employees, (includes OPS, Career Service, SES or SMS employees). Applicants will not be accepted from outside of the department.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Supporting the development and implementation of policy and environmental changes that will impact tobacco prevention and control efforts for the Florida Department of Health in Broward including but not limited to areas of Cessation Access, K-12 Schools and Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT).
• Collaborating with the Tobacco Prevention Specialist on the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all strategies and activities as outlined in the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida annual work plan to address assigned policy areas.
• Confers with the Tobacco Prevention Specialist to complete and submit quarterly reports in the Automated Tobacco Activity Collection System (ATACS), special reports, end of year reports, and other requests for information.
• Ensuring the establishment and maintenance of required Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) programs in schools and Cessation Access programs in community settings in Broward County.
• Providing technical assistance to local SWAT clubs and promoting the youth empowerment model to increase knowledge of tobacco issues and garner interest in tobacco prevention related advocacy.
• Preparing presentations to facilitate meetings, trainings, key informant interviews, and/or workshops.
• Participating in Tobacco Free Partnership of Broward County meetings and providing monthly updates of program and policy implementation activities and related information.
• Working with local school district to maintain and update the comprehensive tobacco free schools policy.

The candidate must be Tobacco Free and a Non-Smoker. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to design and produce health promotion and public health educational materials for the media.

• Ability to utilize computer systems.
• Ability to provide health education services to others.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Minimum qualifications:

• Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
• Current employee of Florida Department of Health.
• This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
• This position requires daily in-office or field work.
• Willing to physically come in the office daily and perform field work.
• Valid driver's license, free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes.
• Experience working with middle and high school age students.
• Experience with My Florida Marketplace, Monday.com, and ATACS - Automated Tobacco Activity Collection system.
• Professional experience using Microsoft Office Applications.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience planning and organizing community event.
• Experience establishing partnerships / committees within a K-12 school system / district.
• Experience with public speaking and delivering presentations to community partners.
• Bilingual fluent in English/Spanish.
