Job Summary The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and indirect patient care within the Emergency Department, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and efficient patient flow. This role involves evaluating patient responses, consulting with specialists and ancillary departments, and adjusting nursing care as needed. The RN delivers comprehensive care addressing psychosocial, physical, and communication needs of patients and families, demonstrating professional initiative and responsibility. Prompt and accurate response to changes in patient condition or treatment response is essential. Responsibilities Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department. Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust nursing care processes accordingly. Consult with specialists and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care. Communicate effectively with ED physicians regarding patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results. Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response. Address psychosocial, physical, and general care needs of patients. Meet communication needs of patients and their families. Demonstrate professional initiative and responsibility consistent with nursing standards. Required Skills & Certifications Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Minimum of 1 year nursing experience preferred. Preferred Skills & Certifications Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification. Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification. Special Considerations Must be able to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment. Work involves caring for patients with acute and critical conditions requiring immediate intervention. Scheduling Night shift from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
