Position Full‑time Physical Therapist, Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, one weekend a month – Danbury Hospital; patient settings include in‑patient, out‑patient, and pediatrics. Summary Physical Therapists provide services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain with emphasis on physical dysfunction. Therapy encompasses evaluation, analysis of patients, and therapeutic application of physical and chemical agents, exercise, instruction to patient/family, and other procedures to maximize functional independence. Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of pediatric and/or adult and mature adult patients. Responsibilities Performs physical therapy evaluations, demonstrating technical skill and accuracy in performing basic evaluation procedures. Performs physical therapy treatment planning and implementation, utilizing appropriate interventions, procedures and equipment as defined by specialty area. Provides patient/family education and training. Provides peer reviews and participates in performance improvement activities. Completes documentation based on department guidelines. Initiates discharge planning. Attends 20 hours of continuing education per year and provides one hour of in‑service education to staff per year. Provides observation experience or lecture to students. Participates in orienting, teaching, guiding and evaluating assistive personnel. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Bachelor’s level DGRE. Minimum experience: zero to six months. Desired credentials: Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification in physical therapy rehabilitation settings and CPR certification. Working Conditions Manual: significant manual skills, motor coordination and finger dexterity. Occupational risk: significant. Physical effort: very heavy; may exert up to 50 lbs.
