Westpark Springs – Behavioral Health Hospital, Richmond, Texas Assistant Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health – Full time, Day shift. As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you will lead nursing and hospital operations during assigned shifts, ensuring quality general and psychiatric patient care. You will support department managers, supervise staff, and uphold regulatory compliance. Position Summary Directs the department’s activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Essential Functions Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols. Serves both internal co‑workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors. Accesses and works with sensitive and/or confidential information. Exhibits comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA) and applies policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work to ensure quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, and developing staff; reviews performance and administers corrective action. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education. Business Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; draw and interpret graphs. Moderate Computer Skills – Frequent use of electronic mail, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, graphics, and simple functions in documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations. Complex Communication – Frequently communicates complex information and interacts with management; presents, resolves, and addresses delicate situations; motivates and persuades others. Physical & Mental Demands The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Repetitive motion of the upper body is required for extended use of a computer. Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment & Travel Requirements Works in a well‑lit, ventilated, and climate‑controlled office environment with routine office equipment. In a hospital setting, may be exposed to hazards including bloodborne pathogens, contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials requiring safety precautions and protective equipment.
