Residential Counselor: Mills House - Part Time - 7057 Job Category: Direct Care Requisition Number: RESID007057 Locations Mills House 184 Deerfield Road Windsor, CT 06095, USA ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Mills House is a community‑based group home that provides 24‑hour staffing and a built‑in therapeutic component for five boys aged 14‑21 who have experienced serious emotional and behavioral problems. The home allows the boys to live in a more familial, natural setting within the community and emphasizes maximizing each boy’s ability to develop skills for living successfully outside of an institutional setting through participation in normative community activities.

ABOUT THE POSITION

JOB TITLE: Residential Counselor EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part‑time, 24 hours/week SCHEDULED HOURS: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. PROGRAM/LOCATION: Mills House, Windsor, CT

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains the physical environment and program standards set by funders, accreditors, and agency policies. Monitors self‑administration of client medications in accordance with agency medication policies and procedures. Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to collaborate with co‑workers and clients. Teaches and assists all residents in developmentally appropriate activities of daily living. Assists/manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor. Prepares and facilitates educational and skill‑building groups and one‑to‑one interventions as directed by the treatment plan. Collaborates and coordinates care with providers and families as needed. Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs. Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards. Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings as assigned. Performs additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or GED required. Experience: Two years’ experience working with a relevant population preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid driver’s license required with a good driving record.
