Position Overview:

Department: Labor and Delivery

Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM, with rotating weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in obstetrics is desirable.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $31.21 - $49.94

Pay Rate Type: Hourly

Job Summary:

This role involves overseeing women's services, managing workflow, and utilizing nursing resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gather and assess relevant health data to create and implement personalized care plans aimed at achieving measurable outcomes for women and newborns, focusing on family-centered care.
• Facilitate care delivery that emphasizes woman-, newborn-, and family-centered approaches within your practice scope, employing health education strategies to promote a safe environment.
• Monitor progress towards expected outcomes in the context of family-centered care.
• Make ethical decisions on behalf of women, fetuses, and newborns, guided by a robust ethical framework and principles of cultural diversity and inclusion.
• Engage in communication and collaboration with women, families, healthcare providers, and the community to ensure safe and holistic care.
• Act as a role model, change agent, consultant, and mentor for women, families, healthcare consumers, and fellow professionals, maintaining knowledge of current evidence-based practices.
• Utilize evidence to identify, assess, and validate various approaches to care for women and newborns, implementing improvements as necessary.
• Reflect on personal nursing practice and contribute to the evaluation of peers, considering safety, effectiveness, and resource management in care delivery.
• Ensure environmentally safe practices in all aspects of care for women, newborns, and families.
• Apply evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge to nursing care, ensuring it meets the specific needs of patients as outlined in departmental guidelines.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety in all duties.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Regular verbal communication to convey information.
• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry.
• Frequent visual acuity for near and far distances, including color differentiation.
• Regular use of smell for odor detection.
• Frequent auditory skills for communication and monitoring equipment.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional patient handling.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, and repetitive movements.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling and running.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:

Location: Missouri

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or a Compact State
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification from the AHA, or
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), or
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA, or
• NRP Essentials certification from the AAP
