Safety Specialist

Description

Provides experienced-level support in the development, implementation, and oversight of safety programs across multiple job sites. Conducts thorough site audits, facilitates training, leads incident investigations, and ensures compliance with regulatory and company safety standards. Serves as a resource to project teams, mentoring field personnel on hazard identification, corrective actions, and best practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Review compliance with policies and procedures at job sites.
• Conduct walkthrough inspections at project sites with project personnel.
• Assist in the Coordination of insurance and employee medical treatment. Manage workers' compensation programs and coordinate insurance claims.
• Communicate lessons learned from near misses, accidents, and incidents.
• Conduct safety training for employees.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project managers and superintendents.
• Recommend modifications to policies and procedures as needed to reduce the occurrence of these events.
• Conduct reviews of sites to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency standards and company policies.
• Monitor subcontractor's safety performance.
• Assist in the presentations to employees and subcontractors for safety-related meetings and presentations.
• Assist in the tracking and trend of near misses, first aid injuries, incidents, accidents, and recordable injuries.
• Foster a culture of safety by supporting best practices and regulatory requirements at the state, federal, and local levels, as well as contractual obligations in collaboration with S&P operational leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
• CHST certification
• Incident investigation
• 1926 knowledge
