A Tier Two Automotive Supplier is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring that our supply chain operates efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will have experience with various procurement systems and a solid understanding of inventory control and production planning. You will play a crucial role in maintaining optimal inventory levels while negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.
** Responsibilities **
- Manage the procurement process from requisition to purchase order issuance.
- Collaborate with supply chain and production planning teams to forecast inventory needs.
- Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Conduct price negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels using systems such as SAP ERP or Oracle EBS.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality or delivery.
- Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding purchasing activities.
** Qualifications **
- Proficiency in procurement software such as AS400, SAP, or Oracle EBS is preferred.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and practices.
- Experience in inventory control and production planning is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
