Senior/Lead CA Gen Engineer (Remote)

Salary: $65,000 - 102,000 per year Requirements:
- At least 5 years of hands-on CA Gen experience, including Broadcom Gen, COOL: Gen or CoolGen, with knowledge of its runtime framework and model internals
- At least 5 years of COBOL software development experience
- Strong understanding of CA Gen-generated COBOL code
- Experience with mainframe application modernization or migration projects
- Ability to translate legacy application logic into clear, detailed specifications for modern replacement systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills when working with legacy codebases
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Nice to have: experience with CICS, Db2, VSAM or IMS DB
- Nice to have: familiarity with Java, C# or AWS
- Analyze existing CA Gen models, runtime frameworks and generated COBOL code to understand legacy application logic and behavior
- Develop detailed technical specifications from CA Gen-based applications to guide forward engineering of replacement systems
- Collaborate with the team to design and validate migration approaches from CA Gen and mainframe technology to modern platforms
- Support reverse-engineering work, accurately capturing and preserving business logic and rules
- Partner with architects and developers to align legacy system behavior with new application designs
- Identify risks, gaps and edge cases in legacy CA Gen models during modernization
- Document legacy system architecture, data flows and dependencies
- Share knowledge and help transfer CA Gen and COBOL expertise across the team
