Assistant Director of Finance

Job Description Summary The Assistant Director of Finance sets the tone for Sonesta’s Culture of Caring. They create and execute business plans aligned with the property and brand’s strategies, oversee financial operations, secure hotel assets, maximize ROI, and provide timely, accurate reporting and analysis within a decentralized accounting environment. Responsibilities Assist the Director of Finance with budget preparation, strategic planning, and goal setting. Perform month‑end closing, input and reconcile all income for closing, and prepare reports, trial balances, and financial statements for management. Manage daily accounting activities, including posting general ledger entries, journal vouchers, and ensuring timely compliance with GAAP. Maintain bookkeeping functions and subsidiary ledger oversight, prepare and reconcile tax filings, and ensure required documentation is preserved. Execute balance‑sheet and bank reconciliations, participate in inventory audits, and conduct monthly credit and other operational meetings. Review and verify accounts payable/receivable postings, manage cash flow reporting, and supervise related day‑to‑day operations. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial and statistical reports, perform forecasting, and complete special projects as needed. Promote teamwork and coordination with departments such as Catering, Sales, Reservations, and Front Office; assist with external audits and regulatory compliance. Supervise accounting staff in the Director’s absence, audit payroll, and support staff training and resource allocation. Handle guest billing disputes, vendor communication, and maintain external stakeholder relationships. Qualifications BA/BS in Accounting and/or Business. Two to five years of supervisory experience in financial reporting or general ledger. Experience with House Operating Agreements and commercial real estate preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PC skills. Strong verbal and written communication, supervisory, and customer‑service skills. Ability to multi‑task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Compensation Base pay: $101,900–$103,900.
