Transportation Engineering Technologist - Kanawha County

The Transportation Engineering Technologist will serve as the Materials, Control and Testing (MC&T) Division Statewide Contract Administrator overseeing the statewide consultant selection process. The process includes being involved in the selection, assignment and monitoring of the consultant work under contracts, negotiating and collecting consultant pricing and generating a cost analysis, maintaining a source selection list of companies that may require third party sampling and/or inspection, overseeing agreement execution for seral services, obtaining consultant evaluations, and maintaining the various consultant usage databases. Will evaluate the completed work of consultants and review and approve invoices. Work on improving the statewide contracts and assisting various other districts, divisions and the Federal highway administration (FHWA) regarding contracts, This employee will serve as the Statewide Radiation Safety Officer. Assists other divisions and districts with projects and tasks as needed. As a unit manager, duties include supervision of lower level supervisors, technicians and/or professional employees. Performs other related duties as required. REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION • Certification as an Engineering Technologist by the West Virginia Transportation Engineering Technician Certification Board. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Substitution (New Hires Only ) • Associate of Applied Science in Highway Engineering Technology degree from a regionally accredited college or university, plus twelve (12) years of paid experience in a technical capacity in a Civil Engineering environment may be substituted for the required training/education. OR • Associate Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of paid experience in a technical capacity in a Civil Engineering environment may be substituted for the required training/education. OR • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree from an accredited college or university, plus seven (7) years of paid experience in a technical capacity in a Civil Engineering environment OR be licensed as a Professional Surveyor OR be licensed as a Professional Engineer may be substituted for the required training/education. Special Requirement: Employees functioning as a licensed land surveyor must have a current state license from the State Board of Examiners for Land. #J-18808-Ljbffr
