Tech 1 Quality MSD

Job Description The Quality Tech I will be responsible for inspection of machined parts for the MS Directional machine shop, repair & maintenance, quality control, and engineering departments. I will issue inspection reports and supporting quality notices and/or reports if applicable, including identifying non‑conformities and Quality Notices. Reporting to the Quality Control Department, this role requires a passion for quality assurance across all duties performed. Responsibilities Inspect incoming parts and tools for damage or defects. Measure parts using basic tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures. Follow inspection checklists and work instructions step by step. Perform quality control of parts to determine whether they need to be repaired or replaced. List parts to be replaced referencing the manufacturer’s manuals and diagrams. Operate devices to meet test requirements and perform data acquisition and analysis using equipment such as micrometers and calipers. Document inspections, test results, repair work done, and parts replaced for proper billing and record‑keeping. Ensure the yard and shop spaces are clean and organized. Ensure all equipment is clean and in good working order. Safely operate a forklift to move equipment around the yard. Participate in all required meetings, training and development activities. Communicate effectively in written and spoken English and promptly follow verbal and written directions. Perform other related duties as assigned with supervision when needed. Assist in basic troubleshooting with guidance from experienced technicians. Requirements Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform mechanically oriented functions, including independent use of heavy‑duty handheld and long‑handled tools. Navigates the yard and shop work sites safely, including occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., in day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather conditions. Operate heavy equipment. Lifts and carries 50 lbs independently while walking on uneven surfaces. Bends, stoops, kneels, twists, and crawls occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas. Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills, promptly giving and following directions when working with others, and interacting productively with coworkers and third parties. Possesses basic computer skills in Microsoft Office. Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times. Is willing to be on call after hours, work extended schedules, including extra days, occasional nights, weekends, and holidays. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. At least 6 months of stable, related work history. Preferred Qualifications Quality control experience with vector gauges, RA meter, and other measurement equipment. Knowledge of API and TH Hill industry standards. Certified Mechanical Inspector, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Six Sigma Green Belt certification. Ability to work independently while adhering to expected deadline schedules. Additional Details The QA/QC Technician must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others, including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop and yard, requiring exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles. #J-18808-Ljbffr Patterson-UTI Energy Inc.
