Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psych ER Profession: RN Specialty: Psych RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Weekend Blocked, Day/Night Rotational Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: New York License ONLY Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA) ONLY Must-Have: Telemetry preferred Description: Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their relatives to gather case history. Plan and provide nursing care for patients. Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options. Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients. Administer psychotropic drugs and other medications, noting patient reactions. Arrange further medical attention when necessary. Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment. Help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Test for vital signs of pain and ensure appropriate treatment for pain management. Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician's written orders. Maintain patient confidentiality. Keep accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping. Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system. Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and members of the public by responding to requests for service or making appropriate referrals.
