Building Maintenance Technician

Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Knoxville, Tennessee . Overview The Building Maintenance Technician will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across various systems in a commercial environment. The role requires technical expertise in one craft area, with proficiency in others, to ensure the smooth operation of building systems. Responsibilities Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to meet standards. Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and technical proficiency. Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to ensure optimal performance. Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment. Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace. Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory. Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to various weather conditions and hazardous materials. Assist with physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems EPA 608 Universal Certification Ability to analyze and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and take corrective actions Computer literacy for record-keeping and work order systems Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
