Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Maintenance Technician II)

The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician supports the operations maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging, distribution, and material handling equipment, including conveyors and pneumatic systems. This role focuses on performing high-quality predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, and ensuring that automated and robotic systems operate safely and efficiently in a high-speed distribution environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as conveyors and associated automated systems.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance routines on material handling equipment, automated conveyor systems, and pneumatic systems, following established procedures and schedules.
  • Complete and document all preventative maintenance activities, including filling out PM sheets and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Conduct battery changes and perform preventative maintenance on industrial batteries as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems with material handling equipment, automated conveyor systems, and controls.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Enter downtime data into daily logs and accurately record maintenance actions and findings.
  • Create, manage, and close work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Track, store, and manage department inventory, including spare parts and critical components, to ensure availability for maintenance activities.
  • Follow and demonstrate safety standards at all times, adhering to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and internal safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
  • Work with PLC-based control systems to assist in troubleshooting input and output functions for building operations and material handling equipment.
  • Operate and maintain robotic systems and high-speed automation equipment in a large distribution facility.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance team members to minimize equipment downtime and support overall facility performance.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles.
  • 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment.
  • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing material handling equipment (MHE) systems.
  • 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including walking significant distances and lifting moderate weights as part of daily duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment, including diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairing, and creating work orders.
  • Hands-on experience working with conveyors and other material handling equipment (MHE), including controls and robotics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance records.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and a strong desire to learn and grow within a reliability and maintenance engineering environment.
  • Experience applying MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and internal safety requirements.
  • Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field.
  • 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems.
  • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an automated or high-speed facility.

Work Environment

You will work in a large, fast-paced distribution facility equipped with high-speed automation and robotic components. The environment is highly data-driven, with performance tracked through systems that monitor productivity and maintenance outcomes, while still allowing you autonomy in your daily work. The role is physically active and requires comfort with walking long distances throughout the shift and lifting moderate weights as part of routine tasks. You will work around advanced material handling equipment, automated conveyor systems, and robotics, using tools, diagnostic equipment, and a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Positions are available on multiple 10-hour shifts, and all candidates must be open to working any shift as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodyear, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
