About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU or high acuity PACU License: Active Nursing License in the state of practice Certifications: ACLS and BCLS required, CCRN and CPI preferred Must-Have: - 2 years of ICU experience or 2+ years in a high acuity PACU - Strong critical thinking skills Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the PACU specialty. The unit caters to a high acuity patient population aged 12 and older. It operates in a fast-paced environment, receiving patients from varied areas post-procedure after sedation. Both outpatient and inpatient patients are treated. Unstable ICU patients are directly admitted to the unit. The unit performs various tasks such as TEE, cardioversion, epidural block placement, and lumbar injections. The facility has a total of 637 staffed beds and supports a Magnet, teaching environment. Patient ratios during the day and night shifts are typically 1:1 or 1:2. Weekend coverage is required, with the expectation of working every other Saturday. The position may require floating within the hospital but not to sister facilities. Candidates must possess strong critical thinking and clinical skills relevant to critical care. Unit managers are willing to train nurses with appropriate ICU experience for PACU roles. Experience in CVICU or SICU is preferred. Additional requirements include experience with end-tidal CO2 monitoring and central line management. Patients in this unit may require complex care, including airway management and medication reconciliation. The position demands a high level of collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
