Part-time Fire Inspector

Responsibilities Conduct initial fire and life safety inspections of a wide range of occupancies. Schedule and coordinate re‑inspections. Prepare inspection reports. Perform school inspections and fire evacuation drills. Conduct fire inspections for special events, fireworks, or food trucks. Follow up on and investigate false alarms and citizens' complaints. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Valid State of Illinois Class D Driver’s License (or Wisconsin equivalent). Must be a Fire Inspector I issued by a certifying agency such as OSFM, ICC, or NFPA within one year of hire. Minimum three years of recent experience in fire service or fire prevention code compliance. Ability to maintain working relationships with city, villages, building officials, other employees, and the public.
