UNDERWRITER

Summary: The Underwriter is responsible for providing efficient, timely, consistent, accurate quality loan decisions on a daily basis and underwrite loans that adhere to APM Underwriting Policy and Procedures as well as investor guidelines, policies and procedures. Additionally, they are responsible for answering questions and assisting with problem solving with other underwriting staff. Respond to both internal and external QC audit findings in a timely and proficient manner. Underwrite a minimum of 2 loans per day and complete outstanding conditions in a timely manner. Review files for accuracy and completeness according to the Underwriter Checklist, APMC guidelines and investor/agency guidelines. Run files through Quality Control tools. Communicate effectively with processors and loan officers on status of loan files and conditions. Education & Experience: Proven Experience with Encompass Required At least three (3) years underwriting experience. Authority to underwrite CONV and, when designated, USDA and/or Jumbo products to APMC or investor guidelines General experience and understanding of the following products: Mortgage Builder Microsoft Word and Excel Outlook Internet navigation Skills: Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers/vendors or other employees. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: Sound working knowledge of computer and office software operations and systems.
