The Big Picture

Bonita Valley Baptist Church (bonitavalleybaptist.com/home) is seeking a full-time dedicated, passionate, and experienced Senior Pastor to join our team and lead our congregation in spiritual growth and service. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep love for the inerrant word of God, and desire to teach the Bible as written. We are a vibrant, diverse, and healthy community of faith, committed to serving God and loving our neighbors.

We envision teaching believers, through the Bible, how to love God and love their neighbors (Col 1:28, Matt 22:37-40).

We see a church of fully devoted followers of Jesus. Through dynamic preaching and practical teaching of the Scripture, along with discipling relationships, we strive to see life transformation occurs and people becoming more like Christ.


We see joyful people eager to attend services. When people arrive, they are warmly received, feel deep connections with others, and a sense of belonging. Newcomers are embraced with love and grace and brought into the life of BVBC.

We see vibrant ministries for all ages. Children, Youth, Young Adult, Men and Women, Seniors--each having multiple opportunities for spiritual growth, refreshment, and service. We envision reaching Bonita and its nearby communities with the Good News that Jesus saves and transforms people (Luke 15).

We are focused on training our adults and our young to live biblically, love authentically, and to share the message of Christ with integrity. We encourage our faith family of all ages to develop relationships with those who may not know Jesus. Outreach is not just a program, but an overflow of our lives in Christ. We see people eager to serve in Bonita and beyond.


We rejoice BVBC is made up of people from different racial, ethnic, national, and economic backgrounds. We see a beautiful tapestry of God's people reflecting the reality of heaven, when "every tribe, tongue, and nation" will stand shoulder to shoulder in praise of Christ who brought them together by His blood and in His grace.

We envision sending believers into the world to share with others the story of how Jesus saved them (Romans 10:13-15, Acts 1:8)

We see our church supporting many missionary endeavors, both prayerfully and financially. We celebrate with our missionaries as they provide updates sharing how God is working through their ministries.


We see our people called to participate in a variety of missionary efforts, locally and around the world. It is exciting for us as a church to extend Christ's work to "the ends of the earth" (Matt 28:20)


Requirements

Qualifications :


A.A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.

B.Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle, fulfilling the biblical leadership

qualifications of an elder described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

C.Agreement with the Constitution and By-Laws of BVBC.

D.Demonstrated desire to, and practice of, seeking the Lord for personal direction and

vision for the church.


E.Has a consistent, daily devotional habit of bible study and prayer.

F.Proficient in biblical preaching and teaching.

G.Properly ordained and educated in biblical, theological, and pastoral studies.

H.Ministry experience demonstrating growth of spiritual health in the Body of Christ.


I.Proficient in communication, organizational leadership, administration, and

interpersonal relationships.

J.Potential and desire to remain in long-term ministry at BVBC.

K.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, organize events, and work

effectively under pressure.

L.At least MDIV from an accredited theological institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities : Take primary responsibility for the teaching and sustaining of biblical doctrines of this church and equipping God's people for ministry.

A.Pastoral duties

1) Preach and teach the Word of God regularly. In all cases of public worshipservices of BVBC, the Senior Pastor is the primary preacher.

2) Share in responsibility for the public worship services.

3) Administer the ordinances of Communion and Believer's Baptism.

4) Officiate Biblical marriage ceremonies.

5) Provide general pastoral care and nurture.

6) Be responsible for recruiting, training, and motivating disciples, and ministry

Leaders.

7) Guard doctrinal integrity

B.Leadership duties

1) Provide overall vision and leadership to BVBC.

2) Collaborate with the Elders to organize and develop the ministry of BVBC.

3) Share in the development and implementation of ministry objectives.

4) Develop leaders.

5) Participate in community group ministry (eg, Family Night, Men's Ministries).

C.Management duties

1) Supervise/shepherd office staff.

D.Outside church duties

1) Represent the church to the community.

2) Provide ministry to the broader body of Jesus Christ.

3) Interact with other pastors and local leaders.

Accountability :

A.The Senior Pastor is accountable to the Elder Board.

B.The Senior Pastor will develop and maintain private accountability relationship(s).

C.The Senior Pastor will be reviewed annually by the Elder Board in accordance with theposition description.

D.The Senior Pastor will adhere to the Constitution and personnel handbook.

A.Senior Pastor experience or potential.

B.Male.

C.Age Range: 40+

D.Marital Status: Prefer Married.

E.Open to all ethnicities and/or cultures.

F.Open to physical disabilities as long as he can perform the Position Description.

Benefits

The Compensation

$93,000 - $105,000 total package depending on experience and education
