Job Type: On-site FTE: 1.0 Standard Hours: 40.00 Shift: Shift 3 Shift Options Option 1: Four 10‑hour shifts (Wednesday or Thursday off) 1500-0100 hrs Option 2: Five 8‑hour shifts, Monday-Friday 1500-2300 hrs Overview : Our state‑of‑the‑art Emergency Department is the area’s only adult Level 1 Trauma Center. It features a 4‑bed Trauma Bay, 55 general ED beds, and a busy triage area, supported by specialized staffing including dedicated Arena Teams (4 RNs, 2 Techs, 1 Paramedic) and Trauma teams (4 RNs, 1 Tech, 1 Paramedic). Nursing‑to‑patient ratios are thoughtfully adjusted based on care areas to ensure optimal patient outcomes in this dynamic, high‑acuity environment. Job Summary The Assistant Nurse Manager supports and collaborates with the Nurse Manager by overseeing the day‑to‑day operational activities of their assigned unit(s). This individual must apply principles of leadership and human relations in the overall supervision and coordination of patient care and personnel, with primary accountability during the off‑shifts. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager with maintaining unit‑specific standards of practice based on current literature and professional standards of practice, and may be delegated additional responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Nurse Manager. Experience Requirements Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice required, which may include a combination of nursing, nursing support patient care experience, or a combination of clinical patient care experience with prior clinical or non‑clinical leadership experience. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Special Skills Interpersonal skills to interact with and maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel. Analytical skills to prepare nursing care plans, outcome‑management tools, statistical reports, implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patients’ mental or physical well‑being. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when resolving patient care problems and dealing with patients and their families, often during stressful situations. Proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email. Licensure Requires current Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a multi‑state nursing license participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
