POSITION SUMMARY

The Culturally Specific DV/SA Prevention Advocate is responsible for developing and expanding Linguistic and culturally specific programming based on principles of equity, intersectionality, and recognizing individual circumstances. They will establish and maintain new and current relationships with partners in our community. The Culturally Specific DV/SA Prevention Advocate will be responsible in scheduling and coordinating trainings and community forums for the communities we serve enhancing awareness on domestic and sexual violence culturally specific response and identifying necessary systemic changes and program services. Implements initiatives designed to promote the organization and its services to the community. Develops relationships with community leaders and serves as the organization's liaison with various constituents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• In accordance with the YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts, Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Office on Violence Against Women annual outreach and training plan conduct outreach and build additional/new relationships with schools/youth programs, police departments, faith base communities, state agencies and community agencies within our service area.
• Develop and implement community assessment tools and evaluation to identify needs of survivors and gaps in system services.
• Schedule and Coordinate trainings and forums in partnership with the peer leaders and identified partners.
• In partnership with subcontracted agencies develop and implement new training content and materials.
• Provide presentations to target groups within the community and to community agencies around program services, domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence.
• Provide individual counseling to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and significant others as needed.
• Participate in Crisis Medical Accompaniment rotation as assigned.
• Participate in Crisis Line back-up rotation as assigned.
• Attend individual supervision, staff meetings, clinical supervision and community meetings required by the agency, funding sources and professional standards.
• Participation in special projects and fundraising activities for program development.
• Accept responsibility for other duties required of the Sexual Assault Program/Domestic Violence that the Director of Community Based Domestic and Sexual Violence Services may designate to ensure the efficient, professional and fiscally sound operation of Programs and the YWCA.

Requirements:

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or related field.
• Dependable and efficient with strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to change, handle multiple projects, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of vocational, economic, and social issues related to victims of domestic violence/sexual assault.
• Domestic violence/sexual assault certification preferred at recruitment and required for retention.
• Training and competence in the following: outreach education; cultural competence; community organizing; and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Must be BilingualSpanish/English)

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, walking, and climbing. Position requires driving to and from appointments and making presentations.

Work is varied in nature and requires the ability to make clear and concise presentations, to communicate in person and on the telephone and to respond to crisis situations in an appropriate manner.
