CT Technologist

Job Summary:


The Radiology/Cardiology CT Technologist is responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves preparing patients, operating CT equipment, ensuring image quality, and collaborating with healthcare providers to support diagnostic and treatment processes. The technologist must maintain patient safety, adhere to protocols, and provide excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment. Certification and relevant experience are required, with flexibility for rotating shifts and weekend coverage.

Responsibilities:

• Perform CT imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders.
• Prepare and position patients for imaging, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Operate and maintain CT equipment, ensuring optimal image quality and adherence to safety standards.
• Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare team members to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment.
• Document procedures, patient information, and maintain accurate records using electronic health systems (Epic).
• Adhere to infection control and radiation safety protocols.
• Assist with venipuncture as required for contrast administration.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain certification requirements.
• Flexibly float between radiology and cardiology units as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• ARRT Certification in Radiography (R) and/or relevant CT certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Venipuncture certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in CT imaging.
• Ability to work in an acute care hospital environment.
• Proficiency in patient care, imaging protocols, and safety standards.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
• Familiarity with both radiology and cardiology imaging procedures.
• Experience working in a facility with 200+ staffed beds.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend shifts required with rotating schedule.
• Floating between radiology and cardiology units as needed.
• Reduced Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours compared to standard orientation.
• Facility provides free parking.
• May be called off once per two week pay period.

Scheduling:

• Shift patterns and block scheduling are at manager discretion.
• Rotating shifts including weekends.
• Local candidates accepted; no pending licenses accepted.
