Job Title RN, Birthing Center - Per Diem 2 (260521-50014071) Purpose of Position Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Administers and monitors patient responses to all medications. Directs and guides patient care, teaching, and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing within the realm of Hospital Policy. Maintains and delivers the highest quality customer service standards. Responsibilities Properly utilize the nursing process in caring for patients by maintaining relevant, accurate, and current patient records as evidenced by Nursing PI activities. Provide documentation of assessment of the patient throughout the hospital admission including physical, psychological, social dimensions and discharge plans. Summarize assessment data and initiate plan of care with communication of pertinent data to allied patient care providers as evidenced by Nursing PI activities. Understand, assume, and demonstrate proficiency in the role of charge nurse. Demonstrate proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems). Act as a resource person regarding patient care, orientation, and teaching staff. Participate in at least four‑unit staff meetings per year and attend mandatory educational programs. Participate in identification of the aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care. Adhere to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures. Assess personal learning development needs. Maintain documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly update knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served. Show a willingness to participate on Nursing Committees. Represent the hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that best markets the services provided. Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co‑workers. Perform other work‑related duties and activities as assigned or requested by immediate supervisor. Qualifications Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Graduate of a School of Nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) – Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Requisite completion of the CCHC Pharmacology Exam prior to the start date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – certification required within 6 months (offered within). De‑escalation – completion of an approved De‑escalation Certification Course within 90 days (offered within). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – certification required within 6 months (offered within). Fetal Monitor Course (FHM) every 2 years. Recent OB experience within 2 years. Copy of the highest-level clinical diploma/degree and/or transcript required for employees performing moderate complexity testing. Completion of Baby‑Friendly competencies within 1 year of position. Completion of scrub training for cesarean sections within 1 year of position. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Schedule Details Per Diem Hours, rotating evenings/nights, 3 p‑11 p or 11 p‑7 a, occasional weekends and holidays (Per Diem 2). Two years previous birthing experience required. Compensation Hourly: $44.51–$75.56 (subject to factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education). Includes benefits package such as healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement.
